Prevention Is the Key to a Lice Free Family
Believe me when I tell you, the last thing you want to do is not give your children advice on preventing lice infestation and just figure you’ll deal with it later, should any problems arise. At The Lice Expert of Westchester, we have seen many panicked parents come in. The symptoms of lice infestaiton are enough to send anyone into a spin.
- Compulsive Scratching
- Possible infection due to scratching
- Crawling sensation
- Itchy scalp
- Swollen lymph nodes
As a parent, you should always do you’re best to teach and practice good habits. One of the first things you should outline to you’re children is to stop sharing clothing items. These include such as accessories as combs, brushes, hats, hair clips, scarves, towels, headphones and more.
Although lice cannot survive for longer than a few hours without blood meal from the scalp, they can easily grasp onto something like a hat and make they’re way to another child’s head. This is how infestation is spread.
It’s also important to ask your child or children not to engage in any “head to head” activities. Whether at camp or at school, children are most likely to horse around. This makes it very easy for lice to spread.
