Do Head Lice Spread Disease?
One of the most commonly spread myths today is that head lice spread serious infectious disease. Well we have great news for you, there’s no need to worry because they don’t!
According to studies done in labarotories, only one type of head louse is a vector of disease agents. It can carry three different types of bacteria which causes disease in humans including epidemic typhus fever, epidemic relapsing fever, and trench fever.
The type of head louse known as the Pediculus capitis can be infected with these disease agents, however they are not known to be spreaders of this disease among human beings. Believe it or not, lice are more likely to leave you’re scalp or human’s body if they detect a fever.
